The album, along with the single of the same name, established the band as an internationally successful rock act and was also influential in originating the musical style known as folk rock/5(K).

For the single, producer Terry Melcher brought in studio musicians from L.A.'s famous Wrecking Crew to play all the instruments except for the 12 string guitar /5().

No David Crosby equals no Byrds. 's The Notorious Byrd Brothers was their last great album, and after both Crosby and drummer Michael Clarke were kicked out midway and after the sessions of the aforementioned album, that was the end of The Byrds. The creativity was left with those two, and it's shame that personalities prohibited them from progressing for the reason that Crosby was.
